The role of mentors in our life can not be over-emphasized, they are like a compass that guides us to the destination we wish to reach.
Mentors have gone through the journey we wish to go through, they have had the first-hand experience of what is in front of us.
Instead of trying to figure things out on our own, learning and following the guides of someone with first-hand experience can help us cut our learning curves in years.
Some mentors have in-depth classified knowledge than us, they have spent years reading, studying and practicing what we are just getting started on.
Imagine a stubborn student saying “I will not learn from anybody I will figure things out by myself”
Why take 5 years to learn on your own while you can learn from someone in a few months and in today’s digital age it’s now a matter of few weeks.
Mentors are the shortcut to success in the truth we seek in life.

How to find a mentor
In the past, the challenge has always been not having resources or influence to access mentors.
But the internet has changed a lot of things, we now have access to anyone in the world, finding a mentor today is now a click on a button.
The greatest challenge today is no longer access to mentors, the greatest challenge today is people not understanding the importance of mentors in their crafts, business, relationships and spirituality
How many mentors should one have?
I feel it’s awkward to allow a single individual to have full control of our life, I see this to be giving up the control of your life to your fellow being.
There are different aspects that make up our life. No single human is equipped with the knowledge to detect the perfect course of his or her follow human life.
We need mentors in every aspect of our life
The best way to pick a mentor is to define the most important aspect of your life and find the people who have lived or are living your desired state in those aspects, then humble yourself and follow their instructions and guidance.
When I tried to figure out important aspects of life to me, these are what made my list:
- Relationships
- Business
- Spirituality
And even in business, I had subcategories like:
- Online System Setup,
- Marketing
- Digital Marketing
In this part of the continent where I live, most people take their spiritual mentors as their business and relationship mentors, even when the person is not a business person or has failed in a relationship.
To pick a mentor you need to decide the aspect of your life that you want to improve, then pick someone who is more experienced or skilled or knowledgeable than you and learn from him/her.
How to know the right mentor for me?
Your core
Our core is that element of the universe, God that resides in us.
Allowing someone to influence any aspect of our life requires that we resonate with them in an in-depth way. Something that is sometimes referred to as “aligning in spirit”
Choosing a mentor should be beyond the look and likes of an individual, it’s also beyond success and achievements, you also need to feel connected to someone whom you want to influence any aspects of your life.
Mentors are essential to success in every aspect of our life, not having mentors is like going to an unknown destination without a map.
Mentors have gone the direction we wish to go, they can help you get to where you want to go faster than you think.
I hope this post helps you choose the right people to mentor you in life.
