Do you always find yourself slacking on tasks that are supposed to be completed? Maybe you are worried that things are kind of moving a little bit slower in your life? Well, maybe you are not being as productive as you may have been thinking.

How much more can you achieve if you are to be 10x more productive in the next 30 days?

An average smartphone user, including me, has bad phone habits, it seems like our smartphones are outsmarting us these days.

Bad phone habits simply mean spending unnecessary time on the phone.

But there’s this hack I discovered lately that is helping me 10x my productivity. I wish to share it with you because I believe it will be very valuable for many people.

Do you know how much a productivity coach can charge for a session? it cost more than you might think.

But you are about to get a session of productivity coaching from me, right here now ☺

The productive hack I’m about to share with you is related to how you use your smartphone.

But before I get to share this productivity hack with you, there’s this question that I have been wanting to ask you, you can take it as an assignment from this session with me 🙂

How many minutes a day do you think Mack Zuckerberg spends on Facebook and Instagram?

Or Jack Dorsey, how many minutes do you think he spends on Twitter.

You may have to do a little research to figure these out.

How many times have you visited Facebook today Or Instagram Or Twitter?

Actually, you might be among the few people who have figured out what I’m trying to state here, which is: phone addiction is topping the list of productivity killers in our current digital age.

Having phone addiction may not be that negative thing especially if we are spending the time on it in things that are productive, but data has proven that over 80% of the time most people spend with their phone they spend it on social media app.

To me I feel spending time on social media is not a supposedly bad habit at least for most people, because there are also productive things that many people do on social media today, for example, like a social media manager who has to be on Facebook mostly on daily basis to manage his client business page, or like job seekers on the street of LinkedIn searching for openings or branding themselves?

I mean, where should someone looking for a job socialize if not in the street of LinkedIn, a social media built to serve job seekers? but guess what?

In this part of the world where I live not many of the job seekers are even on LinkedIn.

It’s funny how when you try to defend bad habit data will keep proving you wrong.

Data also proves that the top social media platform in the world today is Facebook with over 2.3 billion monthly active users (MAU), not even LinkedIn, LinkedIn didn’t even make it to the top 10, I feel in a country like Nigeria where more than half of its labour force is unemployed, Linkedin should be the top used social media platform.

Labor status in Nigeria as at first quarter of 2021

The question here is where are all the job seekers in my country socializing? can you guess where they are socializing? Maybe what I’m saying applies to you too, just think through it.

Here is another thing data is telling us…

Data has it that most of the time people log in to social media it occurs as a result of taping on a popup notification on their smartphone.

We always want to go and listen to the latest Amibo in town, or is it gist that we call it😀, but I can tell you this same gist has finished the small productivity most of us have.

I want to offer you a one-time solution on how to recover your lost productivity.

Uninstall all social media apps on your smartphone and turn off all notifications on your phone for the next 30 days. Yes, try it, you will not die, and trust me you will not miss anything.

Even though you get to miss a thing, I feel it’s worth evaluating the value of the past gist you have experienced where they really worth much to you? Just think about it.

What if I want to get an important update you may want to ask? If you need to get an important update or send an important message, access your profile from a computer or a web browser and log out immediately once you are done.

You can choose to leave one of a Messenger App like WhatsApp or Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends, but turn off all notifications.

Be in charge of your smartphone, don’t let it outsmart you because it’s a smartphone, use your phone app when you want to use it, not when the app wants you.

Go and do this and thank me later.

You can invest the extra time you will be creating for yourself in the great goals you are chasing, if you don’t have a goal I suggest you create one for yourself, you can’t afford to live without an aim to pursue.

Remember my assignment earlier☺

How many minutes a day do you think Mack Zuckerberg spend on Facebook or Instagram

Or Jack Dorsey, how many minutes do you think he spends on Twitter.

Add Dangote, Jeff Bezos, or any name of any goal-getter you know out there.

I will love to read your thoughts on productivity. How are you improving your productivity in the tech and internet distracting world we live in today? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.

You can as well submit your assignment in the comment section :).
