I’m an advocate of individuals having a personal blog for sharing their skills, knowledge, ideas, experience or imagination.

Blogging has played an important role in my life, it’s one thing I’m so grateful that I got into, it has helped me improve as a writer and also as grow as an entrepreneur, it has helped me reach people whom I never thought would be possible for me to reach.

While blog and blogging as a process might mean different things to me, here are 12 ways blog can be of benefits to you.

1. Personal branding

Blogging, the process of running a blog, can help you establish yourself as an expert and be well known in your field.

When you start blogging about a particular topic, there are possibilities that you will learn and know more than the average person on the topic you blog about.

With this you can establish yourself as an expert on that topic, people will start seeing you as a thought leader and a go-to person on the issues regarding your topic, there are lots of advantages that come with being perceived as an expert in a field.

2. Business or company branding

If you own a business or plan to start a business, blogging is one strategy you can incorporate in your business strategies.

As a business owner or entrepreneur, you can use blog to educate, inform or entertain your current or potential customers or clients, generate leads, which might lead to sales for your business in the future.

3 Increase employment opportunities

Blogging can increase your chances of landing your dream job as a job seeker, one of the things that obstruct most people from landing their dream job is lack of proof of their ability and capability.

You may have great ability and capability to perform a task, but if you can’t prove it to the interviewers there are fewer chances of you landing your dream job, blogging as a tool of showcasing your creative can help improve to the interviewer your level of creativity imagine putting your blog address in your CV, that has a lot to prove to your employee, it shows you are skilled and resourceful and can take an initiative.

For instance, If you are an administrator, and you blog about management and public relationships, won’t it be easier for you to convince your interviewers that you know and have what it takes to carry out your duty as an administrator when you are employed? This can apply to any kind of field.

This is one area starting a blog have had great impact on me.

Before 2017, I have always wished to become a writer, when I read a post online I will always wish I could create something like that, when I go into a bookstore I will always wish I could find a book with my name as the author, those wishes are becoming real, thanks to blog that created the opportunity for me to write, make mistakes and keep improving my writings.

Blogging can help you improve your writing skills, as you write articles for your blog on a regular basis you will see your writings improve and your communication skills enhanced within a short period of time.

5. Self-development

Like in the case of getting better with writing, blogging will push you to improve many aspects of your life.

In the process of running your blog and researching for your blog post, you will likely get exposed to more information, more ideas, more skills, all of this will add up to make you more informed, more skilled and more educated.

Blogging will help you develop positive disciplines which on the long run will make you a better person.

This is one of the most motivating factors for most people for starting a blog, while it’s not an easy and lazy way of becoming rich, blogging has money-making opportunities.

For example, If you have established yourself as a thought leader in your field, you may attract speaking opportunities, people can pay you to speak in conference or seminars, etc

You can also earn money on your blog by placing ads, either personally or by an ad network or affiliate, this is more viable when you have grown your traffic to a reasonable number.

Another way to earn money through blogging is to package your knowledge in a form of ebook or book, course, training and sell it to your audience, these are few among many ways you can earn money through blogging.

Your blog can be a channel for you to express yourself you can use it as a channel to share your thoughts, ideas and opinions about life as a whole, without being restricted by rules in the case of other social platforms.

While I advise you use blog positively and to abide by online publishing best practice, you are the rule setter on your blog, you can express yourself on your blog in an unapologetic way.

You can use your blog as a medium to add value to people and the world at larger, by sharing your knowledge, imagination or skills.

Blogging helps you to develop valuable disciplines that can improve or transform your life for good.

Blogging has made me an avid reader and I’m loving it because reading is changing my life.

As a blogger you will always want to update your knowledge and skills so that you can be more informed on your topic and be able to share useful ideas or information with your audience, that is how you get to know more and become an expert.

That act of always trying to know, that discipline of studying or writing useful content when you can be watching Netflix or Zee World or your favourite show or sport is something that makes the difference.

9. Become a creator

Blogging gives you the opportunity to express yourself in a God-like manner, like being a creator.

Imagine right now you decided to start a blog, out of common things, you create a platform, with content that will be informing, revealing or educating lives, that is one easiest way to exercise your ability as a God-like being.

10. Become more creative

About a few years ago, I never saw myself to be creative, to me, creativity is for the genius, those born with extraordinary ability, but today I can see how creative I’m becoming, I can go to my past, uncover experiences, reconstruct it in the presence and project it to the future in a positive way.

Blogging will ignite and expand the creativity in you mostly through the process of writing and developing your blog.

11. Build good relationships

Blogging can help you build good relationships, starting with comments from your readers who will be asking questions for clarity to people who want to collaborate with you on a project, down to people who will hire you to work for them because through your blog content you have proven to them that you are competent.

We are in an information age, in an age where every piece of information you need is available by just a click of a button the world has never been this informed and generous with information before.

The thing is all this information that exists out there didn’t just fall from the sky, someone put them there. Blogging gives us all the equal opportunity to contribute to the ever-expanding knowledge and information bank of the world.

Starting a blog has a lot of benefits there is more to gain in the process than you can imagine I suggest you give it a strong thought if you haven’t started your blog yet.
